consumption

Last night, Carson and I talked about that crazy, weird thing Jesus said:  "my food is to do the will of my Father."

                 What?

normal person:   "Hey, I'm hungry. Maybe I'll eat a hamburger."
Jesus:   "I'm hungry too, I guess I'll go give someone a hamburger."

He changes the verb altogether.  From eat to do. And I don't know Greek or anything, but....what?!

Jesus is maybe saying here that it fills him, satisfies him completely, to DO what God wills.  What does God will for us?  Not to consume, but to do.  To mind our own business and to choose this day for ourselves whom to serve.  Not to chug down author, idea, drama, cutesy story, and all the comparison and sinful covetousness that follows for me. No, not for me.  I gotta follow Jesus on this one because I hear him calling.

I feel called to push the envelope on this one. Bless when it hurts to.  The next time I'm hungry for some satisfying truth and grace for myself, I'm going to feed one of my little sheep. Now, that opportunity is apt to arise before I'm finished writing this.

Then I will see the kingdom yet to come and the manna will fall when I am being who He made me to be.

Don't get me wrong; dare I compare myself to Jesus-  I'm only saying, "wow, Jesus, I'm hungry, but I'm don't want to consume 'stuff,' I'm devouring your plans for me."

I'm so glad He still speaks to little me.
